It was the turn of the residents of Uyo to receive undiluted fun on Sunday as the high-flying, mega comedy show currently touring the country, Glo Laffta Fest, hit the capital city of Akwa Ibom State.

It was another huge success for the much celebrated show that has received astounding reception in Port Harcourt, Abuja, Enugu, Owerri, Warri and Calabar in the last few weeks.

The show parades over 20 of Africa’s most resourceful comedians, including Uganda’s funniest man, Salvador, and Nigeria’s top humour merchant, Bright Okpocha, popularly called Basketmouth, among others. The comedians are scheduled to perform across the country in batches covering a total of 27 cities from April to October.

The Uyo edition of the top flight show attracted the Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Onofiok Luke, a member of the House, Nse Ntuen, a political stalwart in the state, Paul Ekpo, Commissioner for Transport and Petroleum Resources, Orman Esin and a Special Adviser to the Governor, I.E Ekong, among others.

The show also featured six of Nigeria’s best comedians, including Mr. Patrick, Acapella, Dan D’Humorous, Gordons, Bovi and Basketmouth.

Gaily dressed Uyo residents started arriving the Emerald Event Centre venue of the show as early as 2pm, creating carnival-like atmosphere as the deejay, DJ Lambo blasted danceable music. With the massive hall filled up, hundreds of the revellers sat outside in front of a huge multimedia display beaming the proceedings live.

The show kicked off in earnest with performances by up and coming acts, such as General Odey, Emmaralo, British Pastors who travelled from their base in Aba, and MC Josy, among others.

The show proper opened with Mr. Patrick (real name Patrick Onyeke) who has gained wide popularity on account of his online skits. He treated the audience to a series of slap-stick humour and wisecracks.

He was followed by Acapella, an On-Air-Personality and entrepreneur, who turned out to be a star of the night. Acapella had an extended time on stage, sharing hilarious personal anecdotes. He got the audience reeling in laughter with his expert delivery.

It was also a very good outing for Dan D’Humorous who has been part of the show from the beginning. He was followed by Gordons, Bovi and Basketmouth, who brought the show to a close.
